About Wi-Fi QR codes

A Wi-Fi code carries a network name and password in a format that phone cameras understand. Scanning it offers to join the network, so guests, customers and visitors never have to read a password off a card or ask at the counter.

QRacker encodes WPA and WPA2 networks, which covers almost every home and business router. The code is built in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, and nothing is saved between visits.

Anyone who scans the code can read the password, so treat a printed code like a written-down password. Put it where you would be happy to display the password itself, and if you change the password, print a new code.

Does the code work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The built-in camera app on both platforms recognises Wi-Fi codes and offers to join the network. No extra app is needed.

Is the password hidden in the code?

No. The password is encoded in plain form so the phone can use it. Anyone with a scanner can read it, so only share the code where you would share the password.

What if I change my Wi-Fi password?

The code is static, so it will keep offering the old password. Make a new code with the new password and replace the printed one.
