About text QR codes

A text code encodes exactly what you type, with no link, no scheme and no formatting. Scanning it shows the text on screen and offers to copy it. It suits serial numbers, asset tags, short instructions, a coupon word, or anything you want read without opening a website.

Because nothing is interpreted, the text does not have to be an address or a number. The code is built in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, and nothing is saved between visits.

It is a static code: the content is encoded in the pattern itself, so it never expires, has no scan limit, and needs no account.

Questions

How much text fits in a code?

A QR code holds up to a few thousand characters, but the pattern gets dense fast. A sentence or two scans easily; a paragraph needs a large print.

Can I use line breaks and accents?

Yes. The text is encoded as UTF-8, so accented letters, symbols and line breaks come through as typed.

Will a phone open the text as a link?

Only if the text looks like a link. If you want the phone to open a page, use the website type instead so every camera app treats it as an address.
