About URL QR codes

A URL code encodes a web address exactly as you type it. When someone scans it, their phone offers to open that page in the browser. It is the most common kind of QR code and the one behind most posters, menus, packaging and business cards.

Use the full address, including https://, so every phone recognises it as a link. The code is built in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, and nothing is saved between visits.

It is a static code: the content is encoded in the pattern itself, so it never expires, has no scan limit, and needs no account. If you think you will need to change the destination after printing, make it a page you control and update that page instead.

Questions

Can I change the link after printing?

Not in the code itself. The address is part of the pattern. Point the code at a page you control, such as a redirect on your own site, and change that page whenever you like.

Does a longer address make a bigger code?

Yes. Every character adds modules. Keep addresses short, drop tracking parameters you do not need, and the code stays easy to scan at small sizes.

Do I need https://?

Include it. Some phones treat a bare domain as plain text rather than a link. With the scheme present every camera app opens the page.
